Madrid Restaurants

Madrid restaurants can serve dinner at 9 PM, but 11 PM is common as well. Since lunch typically ends around 3 PM, a snack between these two meals is recommended. Salamanca, Chueca, Santa Ana, and Lavapies are areas with fairly large numbers of restaurants and tapas bars. Plaza Mayor also has numerous restaurants. For elegance and tradition try La Terraza, Jockey, or Horcher. If you don't mind the crush of tourists, Casa Botin is where Hemingway hung out in his day. Remember, this is a Latin country and it's common for men to be in coats and ties and women to wear skirts at dinner; lunch is more casual. Clothing recommendation: you are how you dress in Spain, so expect to be treated in accordance with your appearance. Before rushing out to eat see what you think of these fine Madrid restaurants.
